Job summary

City of Murfreesboro is seeking a Water Treatment Operator to provide skilled and technical work in the treatment operations of the facility. This role requires English communication and strict adherence to SOPs to ensure safe operations.

Responsibilities include monitoring plant parameters via SCADA, collecting samples, performing basic laboratory analyses, calibrating chemical systems, and participating in preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree or higher in environmental science, water resource management, biology, chemistry, or related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate in spoken and written English to ensure safe operations.
• Review plant parameters and adjust according to SOPs.
• Notify supervisor of results that could impact water quality.
• Collect samples and perform basic laboratory analyses.
• Calibrate and adjust chemical systems under supervision.
• Participate in routine preventive maintenance and log work orders.
• Respond to emergencies including after-hours and HAZMAT events.
• Follow water monitoring plans and emergency action plans.
