Job summary

Aqua, an Essential Utilities company in Massillon, OH, seeks a Water Treatment Technician to operate and maintain plant equipment, monitor SCADA systems, and perform routine laboratory work. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and weekend/holiday availability, with Ohio EPA certifications to be obtained.

The position involves following safety policies, recording data, and assisting with maintenance and emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must hold a valid U.S. driver's license.
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays and for overtime.
• Proficient in using Windows-based applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Must obtain and maintain Ohio EPA certifications (Lab and Water Certificates) within specified timelines.

Responsibilities

• Safely operates and maintains water treatment plant equipment and processes.
• Monitors SCADA systems and plant instruments; adjusts treatment and pumping as needed.
• Performs daily sampling and laboratory testing in line with Ohio EPA rules.
• Ensures compliance with Ohio EPA and PUCO regulations and company safety policies.
• Maintains records of operation and maintenance in the asset management system.
• Coordinates with mechanical staff for routine and emergency maintenance.
• Communicates effectively with supervisors and supports after-hours emergency dispatch.
