Job summary

North Texas Municipal Water District is seeking a Water Plant Operator II to join our team in Texas. You will operate and monitor treatment processes, ensure water quality, and support plant reliability in a demanding public utility environment.

You will work with SCADA, perform routine lab tests, adjust chemical dosages, and respond to alarms while maintaining logs and complying with safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; an associate degree or trade certification preferred.
• Two years of experience in water treatment or equivalent.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License required.
• Knowledge of water treatment processes and ability to troubleshoot.
• Ability to perform lab tests and monitor water quality.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor water treatment plant processes and equipment.
• Conduct laboratory tests (chlorine residual, pH, turbidity, etc.) and record results.
• Adjust chemical dosages and process controls via SCADA.
• Respond to alarms and emergencies; maintain logs and records.
• Maintain safety and PPE compliance.
