Job summary

City of Redding seeks a Water Treatment Operator to support the water treatment and distribution system. You will check and repair chemical injection equipment, monitor turbidity, operate and maintain filter treatment, collect samples, and run lab tests as needed.

The position requires knowledge of water treatment processes, safety procedures, SCADA software, and the operation of wells, pumps, meters, and related equipment.

Qualifications

• Any combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Typical education would include a High school diploma or equivalent, with strong background in biology, chemistry, and algebra.
• College classes necessary to obtain California T-3 Water Treatment and California Grade D-2 Water Distribution certificates.

Responsibilities

• Check, adjust and repair chemical injection equipment.
• Check turbidities in the plant and system.
• Operate, assess, and maintain filter treatment operation effectiveness.
• Check chlorination equipment; collect samples for analysis of water and run lab tests as needed.
• Maintain records and reports and operate computers.
