Job summary

The City of Dover, New Hampshire seeks a Community Services Director-level professional to oversee the City’s water treatment facilities, wells, booster stations, storage tanks, and recharge facilities. You will provide technical leadership, ensure safe and compliant operations, and support broader public works activities as needed.

This full-time, 40-hour-week non-exempt position offers excellent full-time benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the continuous production and delivery of safe, reliable water to City customers in accordance with regulations
  • Lead operation and maintenance of wells, treatment plants, booster stations, tanks, and recharge facilities
  • Perform sampling, testing, and adjust treatment processes to maintain water quality and compliance
  • Plan preventive and corrective maintenance and minor construction related to water treatment and distribution
  • Provide technical leadership and training to water treatment staff
  • Operate and troubleshoot equipment and SCADA/electrical/control systems
  • Maintain accurate operation records and regulatory reporting
  • Order and manage treatment chemicals and inventory
  • Create, track, and manage work orders and maintenance documentation
  • Maintain facility housekeeping and safety practices
  • Maintain emergency power systems and inspect equipment
  • Train and mentor new water employees for competency and safety
  • Oversee laboratory operations and data integration into treatment decisions
  • Respond to emergencies and participate in system upgrades and improvements
  • Represent the City professionally with regulators and the public
  • Maintain relationships with staff, contractors, regulators, and the public
  • Enforce safety procedures and regulatory requirements in operations
