Job summary

City of Dover, New Hampshire is seeking a Community Services Director to oversee the operation and maintenance of the City’s Water Treatment Plants, booster stations, storage tanks, and lab for drinking water testing. The role provides day-to-day leadership of treatment systems, chemical management, regulatory compliance, emergency response, and staff supervision.

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position with full benefits; starting salary commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; extensive hands-on experience may be considered
  • NH Grade III Water Treatment License required; Grade IV preferred
  • Grade IV Distribution License preferred; CDL-B with Air Brake/Tanker endorsements desirable

Responsibilities

  • Ensure 24/7 uninterrupted provision of safe municipal drinking water
  • Oversee operation of WTPs, booster stations, storage, and laboratory
  • Direct and train staff; perform performance evaluations
  • Maintain compliance with SDWA, EPA, NH DES, and local regs
  • Lead emergency response and coordinate with regulators and staff
  • Oversee laboratory functions, sampling, analysis, and reporting for potable water
