Job summary

The City of Dover is seeking a Community Services Director to oversee and supervise the operation and maintenance of its Water Treatment Plants, booster stations, tanks, and laboratory for drinking water testing. The role provides day-to-day leadership, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports a modern water program.

Starting salary range is $41.79–$60.42 per hour, with full-time benefits and 40-hour work weeks.

Qualifications

• An advanced degree is preferred, with extensive water treatment experience acceptable in lieu of education.
• Strong leadership and supervisory abilities with administrative skills.
• Experience with water quality regulations and emergency response.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operation and maintenance of water treatment plants, booster stations, storage, and lab.
• Ensure 24/7 provision of safe municipal drinking water and regulatory compliance.
• Direct staff, provide training, and evaluate performance.
• Maintain chemical programs, test data, and quality reporting.
• Lead emergency response and coordinate with regulators and staff.
