City of Sidney Public Works is seeking a Maintenance & Relief Operator for the Water Treatment Plant. The role covers preventive and corrective maintenance of plant equipment, buildings, and remote facilities to ensure safe, continuous operation.

The position also serves as relief Shift Operator, covering 12-hour shifts as needed, with responsibilities including lab testing, SCADA monitoring, regulatory recordkeeping, and water quality adjustments to supply potable water to the community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting knowledge; experience in water treatment, utilities, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or related field preferred.
• Mathematics/chemistry knowledge; coursework in conventional surface-water treatment preferred.
• Ability to obtain Ohio EPA Class I Water Supply Operator Certification within 18 months of hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain laboratory certification and continuing education for operator duties.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Residency as required by the City.

Responsabilités

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of WTP equipment, buildings, treatment systems, and remote facilities.
• Conduct routine inspections, troubleshoot, repairs, and maintenance documentation to support safe, reliable plant operation.
• Serve as relief Shift Operator on a 12-hour shift as needed, including SCADA monitoring, lab testing, and regulatory recordkeeping.
• Handle treatment adjustments and other shift duties to ensure supply of clean potable water.
