Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP is seeking an experienced engineer to lead municipal water treatment design and project delivery in Richmond, VA. The role involves planning studies, designing treatment facilities, managing budgets and schedules, and coordinating with internal teams and clients.

The ideal candidate has a ABET-accredited degree, 5–10 years of water treatment experience, and a Virginia PE or the ability to obtain one within six months, along with strong communication and

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree required in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5–10 years of progressive municipal water treatment/design/construction experience.
• Virginia Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required or within 6 months of hire.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong organizational leadership.

Responsibilities

• Assess municipal water treatment facilities and perform planning studies.
• Develop engineering designs for water treatment plants and related facilities.
• Manage projects from concept through construction; coordinate with teams, subconsultants, and clients.
• Serve as project design lead and coordinate tasks across multidisciplinary teams; mentor juniors.
• Participate in client meetings, presentations, and proposals; assist in technical proposals and innovative design approaches.
