Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP is seeking a Water Treatment Engineer with 5–10 years of progressive experience to plan, design, and construct municipal and industrial water treatment systems. The role involves mentor responsibilities, client interaction, and leadership across multidisciplinary teams.

The position requires a Civil/Environmental/Mechanical Engineering degree (ABET) and a PE license in Virginia or ability to obtain within six months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• 5–10 years of progressive experience in municipal water treatment, design, and construction with multidisciplinary teams.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Virginia or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assess municipal water treatment facilities and perform planning studies.
• Develop engineering designs for water treatment plants and associated facilities.
• Manage projects from concept through construction and coordinate with internal teams, subconsultants, and clients.
• Prepare and monitor project budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
• Provide construction-phase services, including attending pre-bid meetings and progress meetings, reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and resolving technical issues.
• Serve as project design lead and coordinate technical tasks across multidisciplinary teams.
• Mentor and train junior engineers and support staff.
• Participate in client meetings, presentations, and proposals.
