Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP is seeking a Water Treatment Engineer with 5–10 years of progressive experience in planning, design, and construction of municipal water treatment systems in the United States. The role includes development of treatment plants, process piping, and supporting facilities, with opportunities to mentor junior staff.

Candidates should hold a PE license in Virginia or be able to obtain within six months.

Qualifications

• Must have ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5–10 years of progressive experience in municipal water treatment and related design and construction.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Virginia or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail with strong organizational and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and design municipal water treatment facilities and planning studies.
• Develop engineering designs for water treatment plants and related facilities.
• Manage projects from concept through construction and monitor budgets.
• Coordinate with internal teams, subconsultants, and clients to meet milestones.
• Provide construction-phase services including attending meetings and reviewing submittals.
• Mentor and train junior engineers and support staff.
• Engage in client meetings, presentations and technical proposals.
