Job summary

The Town of Groton Water Department seeks a Water Technician to manage operations and maintenance of pumping stations, treatment and distribution systems to ensure reliable domestic water and fire protection. On-call rotation with 30-minute radius preferred.

Requires High School Diploma or equivalent, 3–5 years related experience, and MA Drinking Water Supply licenses (Grade I-Treatment, Grade II Distribution) with a valid driver’s license. Deadline: Sept 11, 2026.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three to five years related experience or equivalent.
  • Advanced technical training or coursework in civil or sanitary mechanical engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain water pumping stations, treatment and distribution systems.
  • Oversee maintenance of buildings and water system components; support new construction and wells.
  • Coordinate with town agencies, contractors, and private property owners to protect end-user interests.
  • Provide emergency response to water issues and ensure economical repairs; resolve customer complaints.
