Job summary

The City of Fort Worth Water Department is seeking a Water System Technician I to operate and maintain local water and wastewater facilities. This role covers multiple plants, lift stations, tanks and meters, with opportunities for training and career advancement.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain the necessary water license. Shift work and some evenings, weekends, and holidays are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED certification required.
• Valid Driver's license required.
• Possession of or ability to obtain Water or Wastewater Class D license required.
• Must pass Drug Screen, Physical.

Responsibilities

• Operates and adjusts treatment plant pumps, motors, feeders and other equipment.
• Participates in routine laboratory analysis at various stages of the treatment process to determine plant efficiency.
• Assists mechanical staff with maintenance of facilities and equipment, such as adding oil or grease to components.
• Records information obtained from charts, gauges, meters and scales.
• Participates in monitoring the work area to ensure a safe working environment.
