City of Atlanta is seeking a semi-skilled construction and maintenance worker to support public works, street construction, and water/wastewater operations. You will operate hand and power tools, assist in plant maintenance, and work as part of a crew under direct supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) with related experience. CDL/Class A/B and various licenses are desirable, with potential for two years of related background.

Qualifications

• Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent and one year related public works or maintenance experience.
• Licensures/Certifications: CDL Class A/B, Water Distribution Licenses, Operator License, Electrical/Journeyman licenses desirable.
• Preferred: Two years related experience in public works, street construction and repair, or water/wastewater systems.

Responsabilités

• Completes assigned work orders; prioritize with supervisor; work safely and efficiently to meet timelines.
• Inspects and repairs water mains; flags/controls traffic; taps water mains; uncorks sewers and house connections; marks lines.
• Maintains wastewater plant/process control equipment and related systems; tests and calibrates equipment.
• Installs water meters; follows routes; records meter data and timing.
• Checks utility truck equipment; requests materials to complete orders.
• Monitors pumping stations; records daily water flow; performs chemical checks; collects samples.
• Keeps work area clean and organized; stores tools; removes scrap and debris.
• Follows standardized procedures and written instructions; may visit construction sites to verify contractor work.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
