Job summary

Provo City is hiring a Water Systems Operator (Apprentice through level III) to operate and maintain the city's water sources system. This role involves inspecting wells, reservoirs, pump stations, meters, and related equipment, recording readings, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and relevant certifications; a CDL with HazMat and Flagger training are required or will be completed within specified periods.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Water distribution certificates graded I-III required or substituted by experience.
• CDL with HazMat endorsement is required within six months at Apprentice level.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, operate, and monitor wells, springs, reservoirs and related equipment.
• Record daily readings for water levels, pressure, flow, chlorine and alarms.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on water system facilities and equipment.
• Read meters, operate valves, support connections, shutoffs and leaks.
• Troubleshoot problems and respond to alarms and service calls.
• Maintain logs and reports; follow safety rules.
