Job summary

City of Anaheim seeks a Water Systems Operations Superintendent to supervise the operation of its water treatment and production facilities within the Water Field Operations Division of the Public Utilities Department. You will coordinate plant, reservoir, dam, pumping stations, and remote valves, and provide staff leadership and expert guidance.

Qualifications

• Five years of responsible water production and treatment operations experience including one year of admin/lead supervisory experience.
• Requires Grade V Water Treatment Operator Certificate and Grade III Water Distribution Operator Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate organization, staffing, and operational activities for water facilities.
• Develop goals, objectives, policies, and priorities; implement procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve service delivery methods and procedures and implement improvements.
• Direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for water treatment services and activities.
• Supervise water treatment personnel and provide staff training; manage staffing and discipline as needed.
• Develop and administer the assigned program budget; forecast funds and monitor expenditures.
• Supervise SCADA operations; oversee maintenance of SCADA, communications and security devices.
• Monitor and manage water system operations to ensure efficiency and proper reservoir and dam operation.
• Collaborate with Water Resources to identify new water sources; plan for new facilities and systems.
• Prepare staff reports and coordinate with other divisions and outside agencies.
