Job summary

American Water is seeking a General Maintenance Worker for the Military Services Group. The role focuses on maintenance and repair of water and wastewater systems, with 90% repair/maintenance and 10% operations, and may include overtime and on-call duties.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, plus 0–2 years of related experience. CDL and DoD background checks may be required for access to military installations.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Trade-specific courses preferred.
• 0-2 years' experience in maintenance of water distribution systems, water pump stations and wastewater collection systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and preventive/corrective maintenance on water distribution and wastewater systems.
• Operate pumps, blowers, motors, and maintain electrical controls and related components.
• Keep computerized and manual records; prepare reports on operations.
• Coordinate work with outside utility maintenance contractors and ensure safety policies are followed.
