Job summary

American Water is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic to perform building, mechanical, and plumbing system maintenance and repairs. This role requires operating equipment and tools, performing electrical troubleshooting, and adhering to strict PPE and safety protocols.

Local daily travel is required; candidates must have a High School diploma or GED and pass Hazwoper and related safety trainings. CDL with Hazmat endorsement is a plus. We value diversity and safety in every assignment.

Qualifications

• Able to speak, read, write and understand the English language.
• Operate a tractor, grass cutter, and/or forklift.
• Written and verbal communications of work progress.
• Must be able to don PPE including hard hat, safety goggles, body harness, etc.
• Possess HAZWOPER training and work in permit-required confined spaces with PPE.

Responsibilities

• Regular maintenance and repairs of structures, mechanical systems and plumbing.
• Maintenance of pumps, motors, valves and piping.
• Use of hand and powered tools; rigging and lifting equipment.
• Electrical troubleshooting and repairs as assigned.
• Chemical feed system maintenance and spill response in PPE.
