Job summary

City of Redlands seeks a Cross-Connection Control Inspector to safeguard the drinking water system and ensure compliance with public health standards. You will conduct surveys and inspections of business and industry for cross connection control, and coordinate field and laboratory testing of backflow prevention devices.

Essential duties include maintaining test result files, preparing reports for state and federal agencies, and training staff.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience performing backflow device testing and maintenance.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid California Class C driver's license on hire.
• Certifications must be obtained within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Administer the backflow testing program and inspect businesses for cross connection control compliance.
• Maintain files on device test results and prepare reports for state and federal agencies.
• Train assigned personnel to recognize potential hazards related to cross connection control.
• Perform annual site surveys and assist with plan checks for new construction or modifications.
• Respond to questions from the public and industries regarding water quality and cross connection control.
