Job description

Cleaver Brooks is looking for a Water Spider (Material Handler) to join our team in Thomasville, GA. The Water Spider (Material Handler) is responsible for keeping the workflow at the Point of Use (POU) uninterrupted which contributes to faster market delivery. The function aims to decrease all variation to production and bring concentration to meaningful work and productivity. The goal then is to shorten the process lead time and reduce waste. Because the role is system centric, the incumbent must be able to work within the designed process and identify and reduce constraints before they impact workflow. Delivers material to work in process work centers. Compiles warehouse records and ensures the accuracy and integrity of all warehouse material and locations.

Job Location: Thomasville, GA

Essential functions:

• The representative of materials to the manufacturing supervisors and technicians
• Proactively addresses material requirements for the point of use
• Examines stock to verify visual conformance to specifications.
• Distribute parts/materials to work areas, in manufacturing; responds to schedule changes
• Daily interaction with the warehouse management system; Ability to perform all storeroom functions to include, put away, cycle count, pick, material physically and execute transactions virtually.
• Must be able to track & trace process defects, and lost, misplaced, or misdirected material.
• Keep records of material distributed. Daily advises management of material performance.
• Cycle count POU materials. Tracks the VMI program at the point of use
• Must know, understand, and abide by all safety rules.
• Daily checks assembler requirements, shop stock, Kits, and Kanban performance for the point of use

Basic Requirements:

Education:

• High school education or GED equivalent preferred

Experience:

• Have successfully worked in a manufacturing environment is recommended.
• Must have good reading, writing and math skills

Physical Skill & Effort: Work requires a few simple, but rapid, hand operations; work requires some lifting and pushing/pulling of material as required to count, sort, reconcile, prepare, put away or ship parts; average weight 10 pounds, parts/boxes of materials range from >1 pound up to 65 pounds. Must be able to lift 65 lbs. 40” high and up to 50 lbs. overhead on a regular basis. Must be able to work up to 12 hours standing and walking on hard cement surface and will be required to regularly bend, stretch, stoop, and squat. Must be able to read tape measure; read and interpret blueprints, safety rules, operating/procedure, and maintenance instructions. Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, and work in temperature ranges corresponding with the outside ambient temperatures. Must be able to access all areas of the plant both inside and outside. Will be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, welding fumes and machine lubricants and/or oils. Must be able and willing to work with and properly use all necessary and/or required personal protective equipment including, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes, and hard hats. Operates material handling equipment.
