Job summary

The City of High Point is hiring a Water & Sewer Mains Technician to maintain and repair water mains, sewer lines, taps, hydrants, and meters. You will join a dedicated team, perform hands-on field work, and respond to issues to keep critical utility services flowing.

Requirements include a valid driverfs license, ability to work nights, weekends, on-call shifts, and a high school diploma or GED. CDL endorsements and safety certifications are preferred and supported by the city.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• CDL permit with Tanker Endorsement or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• CDL with Tanker Endorsement or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• First-Aid, CPR, and AED certification within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain water and sewer mains, meters, valves, and hydrants.
• Respond to water/sewer line issues and perform line cleaning as needed.
• Assist in installing, replacing, and repairing water/sewer infrastructure.
• Set up traffic control and ensure safety for work crews.
• Rotate on-call duties including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and records for ongoing projects.
