Job summary

City of Harker Heights is seeking a skilled maintenance worker to perform construction, repair, and maintenance on sewer and water lines. You will operate equipment, read meters, and perform extensive manual labor under supervision.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, Texas CDL-B within 6 months, and water distribution certifications (D within 1 year, C within 3 years). Experience with construction tools is preferred, and a strong reliability is essential.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.
Must be able to obtain Texas CDL-B within six months from date of hire.
Must be able to obtain a Texas D Water Distribution Certification within one year from date of hire.
Must be able to obtain a Texas C Water Distribution Certification within three years from date of hire.
Minimum six months experience in construction work requiring use of equipment.

Responsibilities

Operates a jackhammer, lawn mower, power saw, tapping machine, chain saw, hand tools, light trucks, and assists vactor truck.
Performs preventative maintenance on tools and equipment.
Performs minor painting, plumbing, and maintenance.
Cleans and stocks the truck.
Loads and unloads materials; performs yard clean-up and all other duties assigned.
Performs after-hours standby duty and rotation of duty phone.
Assists in installing and maintaining water and sewer lines.
Assists other departments as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
