Job summary

The City of Fayetteville, Arkansas is hiring a Water/Sewer Maintenance Worker to service and repair city water and sewer infrastructure. The role requires safety, reliability, and the ability to operate heavy equipment.

You will respond to emergencies, work evenings/weekends as needed, and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation. A CDL with tanker endorsement must be obtained within six months of hire, and you will coordinate with field teams to ensure public health and service continuity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and six months of related experience.
• Valid driver’s license; able to obtain Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within six months.
• Available to work evenings and weekends for emergencies.
• Communicate effectively, in writing and verbally.
• Ability to read and interpret general regulations and procedures.
• Proficiency with heavy equipment and basic hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain water and sewer lines and related equipment.
• Gather supplies and equipment for job assignments; fix leaks.
• Install mains for water and sewer; install taps as needed.
• Drive backhoe and dump truck as required; perform manual labor.
• Work on-call 24/7 including holidays; participate in rotation.
• Maintain trucks, tools, and safety equipment; ensure compliance with regulations.
