Job summary

The City of Fayetteville is seeking a capable supervisor to lead crews in water distribution and sewer operations. Responsibilities include managing personnel, diagnosing system issues, and coordinating repairs. You will train staff and ensure safety, compliance, and timely project completion.

Qualified candidates hold a high school diploma or GED, a Grade I Water Distribution License, and a valid driver’s license with CDL tanker eligibility. Six months to obtain the CDL may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with four years related experience.
• Valid driver’s license; ability to obtain Class A CDL with tanker within six months.
• Grade I Water Distribution License; ability to obtain Arkansas Class I Wastewater License within two years.
• Strong written and oral communication abilities.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or regulations; write reports.
• Able to perform basic math including geometry; interpret diagrams.
• Operate heavy equipment and read plans; use TV van equipment when needed.
• Proficient with computer use for timekeeping or work orders.

Responsibilities

• Perform supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training, and directing work.
• Evaluate water distribution and sewer systems; decide repairs or rehab approaches.
• Exercise independent judgment to address on-site problems.
• Operate equipment to complete department tasks.
• Provide advanced training for specialized equipment.
• Attend required trainings and maintain licenses.
• Prepare paperwork and draw maps as needed; manage job records.
• Oversee crews; schedule work and ensure steady workflow.
• Read drawings of water/sewer plans; use transit for grades.
