Job summary

The City of Sunrise is seeking a dedicated Water Distribution and Wastewater Maintenance Worker to perform a range of installation, repair, and routine tasks on water and sewer systems. This frontline role involves heavy manual labor, operating trucks and tools, and strict adherence to safety protocols.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, plus basic plumbing experience. Training will include on‑the‑job work and potential overtime or emergency callouts as needed.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED; additional courses in water/sewer work preferred.
• Basic full‑time plumbing experience or work installing/repairing water and sewer lines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in repair of water mains, force mains, and gravity sewer lines.
• Shovel debris, dig trenches, and lay pipes.
• Assist in meter maintenance, taps, and sewer line cleaning.
• Flush water mains and assist in gravity sewer inspections.
• Load/unload materials; transport tools to job sites.
• Operate and service city vehicles and equipment.
• Participate in standby and emergency callouts.
