Job summary

The City of Grand Rapids is seeking an experienced Lead Worker for water and sewer utility projects. You will supervise a crew, plan and coordinate installation, repair and maintenance of distribution systems, and ensure safety standards are followed.

Responsibilities include training staff, documenting work orders, and maintaining records for payroll and reporting. CDL and S-4 licenses, and experience with heavy equipment operation are required.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and strong field experience in sanitary and storm water systems.
• Seven years of work experience in sanitary collection systems or storm collection system pipelines; lead experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans, evaluates, organizes, schedules, assigns and coordinates the work of subordinate water and sewer utility workers; provides training and counseling.
• Oversees and participates in lead worker duties related to construction, installation, locating and staking the utility; repair and maintenance of water and sewer systems.
