Job summary

The City of Grand Rapids is seeking a Water Treatment Plant Operator to assure proper operation of a water treatment and pumping plant and its district wide distribution system on an assigned shift. You will receive calls and work with contractors, engineers, and staff to implement system maintenance and breakdown mitigation.

Responsibilities include analyzing treated water, operating distribution and filtration systems, monitoring water quality, maintaining records, and leading a small team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Four years of work experience related to water treatment activities.

Responsibilities

• Provides qualitative and quantitative analysis of treated water.
• Operates water distribution and filtration system.
• Monitors water quality and communicates adjustments to plant workers.
• Maintains plant records and creates work orders; updates log book.
• Identifies problems in equipment and infrastructure and determines remediation steps.
• Monitors and adjusts distribution system; enters plant and distribution system data.
• Monitors plant security and grants access to locations within the plant.
• Acts as lead worker and assigns tasks.
