Job summary

The Town of Needham is seeking a full-time Craftsworker to support the Sewer & Drain team within the Water, Sewer, and Drains division. The role involves operating equipment, performing routine maintenance, and completing logs and reports.

Applicants should have a MA driver's license, CDL Class A or B, and 1–3 years of relevant experience. The City offers comprehensive benefits and on-the-job training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must have valid MA Driver’s License.
• CDL Class A or B required.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience.
• High school with on-the-job or short technical training.
• Ability to work with a team or independently.
• Strong communication and customer service skills with the public.

Responsibilities

• Performs skilled and semi-skilled craft work on utilities infrastructure.
• Repairs and maintains water hydrants.
• Operates equipment such as front end loader, backhoe, excavator, Vactor, Jet–Flush truck.
• Uses power-driven and hand tools to perform tasks.
• Ensures safety precautions on projects.
• Prepares records, logs, and reports; responds to inquiries from the public or contractors.
• Participates in the Snow & Ice Program and may assist other DPW projects.
