Job summary

Robbinsdale Area Schools invites applications for Water Safety Instructor or Water Safety Aide in the Community Education Aquatics program. The role supports safe, high-quality swim lessons for participants, with evening and weekend hours at Plymouth & Sandburg Middle Schools.

Eligible candidates will demonstrate strong customer service and communication skills, and hold current CPR/First Aid or equivalent, with WSI preferred. Training and certification within two months of hire are expected.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 14 years old to be a WSA and 16 years old to be a WSI.
• Ability to work with people from various cultures.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service and problem solving skills while dealing tactfully and courteously with the public.
• Able to attend work regularly and report to work in a timely manner.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Red Cross CPR, and First-Aid Certificates within two months of hire.
• Current Water Safety Instructors Certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe environment for all participants and staff.
• Teach lessons according to lesson plans.
• Be responsible for testing for assigned levels.
• Direct and maintain control of class participants.
• Communicate effectively with the general public and staff members.
• Demonstrate swimming strokes.
