Are you passionate about helping people of all ages build confidence in and around water? We're looking for dedicated Water Safety Instructors to join our team. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to teach essential swimming skills, promote water safety practices, and educate individuals on how to respond to aquatic emergencies.

Anticipated Working Hours: Our ideal candidates will have availability to work in the evenings and weekends.

Hiring Range:

$19.83/hr - $22.31/hr

Full Range:

$19.83/hr - $24.79/hr


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Aquatics Operations

  • Performs duties associated with instructing or leading aquatic programs.
  • Provides a safe, effective, and supportive learning environment for diverse participants with varying skill levels.
  • Stays updated on latest trends and techniques; evaluates class effectiveness and recommends new classes or methods.
  • Plans, prepares, and leads group or individual aquatic instruction based on the American Red Cross curriculum, adapting as needed.
  • Modifies class activities for various skill levels using expertise.
  • Sets up and takes down program equipment.

Administrative Duties

  • Maintains program records and reports, including attendance.
  • Provides excellent guest service, responding to inquiries, comments, and complaints.
  • Communicates regularly with staff, reports issues to supervisors.
  • Attends staff meetings and training sessions.

Other/Miscellaneous

  • Ensures safety by enforcing rules and policies.
  • May develop marketing materials for events and programs.
  • May serve as a subject matter expert and train other staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Two years of related experience or training preferred.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS

  • Must hold a current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification or equivalent. Will need to obtain American Red Cross Certification within 3 months.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required.

Pre-employment screenings include:

  • Background checks: criminal, sex-offender registry, DMV motor vehicle report.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Must demonstrate leadership, communication, and expert knowledge in aquatics operations. Skills include decision-making, customer service, administrative skills, conflict resolution, emergency response, and proficiency in CPR, First Aid, and AED.


Environmental Factors:

Work occurs in a recreational facility environment with multiple demands and tasks.


Physical Factors:

Requires walking, standing, bending, lifting up to 20 pounds, and other physical activities as described.
