Job summary

The City of Fort Worth’s Water Department is seeking a Cross Connection Specialist to join our Customer Care Division. You will inspect plumbing and irrigation systems, identify cross-connections, and help protect Fort Worth’s drinking water supply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with specialized training in Water Utility Operation.
• Two (2) years of experience as a Journeyman Plumber.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License.
• Texas State Master Plumber License with a Water Safety Protection Specialist endorsement within one year of employment.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT) license.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, an Irrigation Inspector license from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of plumbing and irrigation systems to identify and eliminate potential cross-connections.
• Review plumbing, utility, building, and irrigation plans for compliance.
• Inspect new and modified irrigation systems for compliance with water conservation, irrigation, and cross-connection regulations.
• Apply and explain City and State cross-connection, plumbing, and irrigation requirements.
• Provide technical support to Water Department staff, contractors, developers, and property owners.
• Process inspection data and maintain accurate reports and documentation.
• Manage a high volume of inspections and plan reviews while providing professional customer service.
