Kansas Water Office in Topeka seeks a Technical Services Lead to advance public water supply reservoir operations, planning and water rights analysis. You will manage hydrologic models, bathymetry data, GIS data, and data-driven projections to support statewide water planning.

Applicants should bring five years of relevant experience in water resources programs, plus knowledge of GIS, Excel, and water law. This is a challenging, mission-driven role working with state agencies and stakeholders.

Competenze

• Education: High school diploma/GED.
• Experience: Five years of progressively responsible experience in independent engineering, geology, environmental or water resources programs.
• License: Valid Driver's License.
• Preferred: Post-secondary education in hydrology, hydraulics, engineering, geology or related fields.
• Special knowledge: Kansas water law, GIS, Excel; water resource models such as OASIS; hydrographic survey equipment.

• Lead development and use of hydrologic models for water quantity analysis.
• Develop modeling 'what if' scenarios to evaluate management options.
• Prepare written and oral reports describing methods and results.
• Present results to the Kansas Water Authority and other agencies.
• Determine 2% yield from state-controlled storage for statewide water contracting programs.
• Assist in storage determinations for new districts and participate in negotiations.
• Coordinate with agencies and stakeholders to consider water quality and habitats in reservoir operations.
• Negotiate updates to operations agreements as needed.
