Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a Water Resources Intern to support the design department in a learning-focused role. You will assist with research, drawings, and documentation across programming, schematic design, modeling, and construction phases, under supervision.

The role emphasizes teamwork, attention to detail, and development of basic design skills while gaining practical experience in water resources projects and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Full-time student pursuing an ABET-accredited undergraduate degree in civil engineering with an interest in water resources and transportation projects.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office for documentation and communication.
• Willingness to learn and apply company standards and best practices.
• Ability to work in a team and follow directions from supervisors.
• Interest in gaining practical design and documentation experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior leads with basic design tasks, including research and layout support.
• Help prepare drawings and documents for programming, schematic design, modeling, and construction phases.
• Participate in site visits and support RFI responses and review of shop drawings.
• Collaborate with water resources engineers and multidisciplinary team members.
• Follow quality control procedures and learn company standards.
