Job summary

State of Nevada, Division of Water Resources, is seeking an Accountant Technician 2 to support multiple budget accounts and grant-funded operations. You will handle AP/AR, reconciliations, cost allocations, and reporting while ensuring compliance with SAM and internal policies.

Responsibilities include maintaining ledgers, preparing deposits, assisting with audits, and providing fiscal guidance to program staff. A strong foundation in governmental accounting and quality control is essential.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school and three years of financial records maintenance experience including accounting duties.
• One year of experience as an Accountant Technician I in Nevada State service or equivalent.
• General knowledge of bookkeeping, fund and governmental accounting principles.
• Ability to apply state/federal statutes to financial transactions and ensure internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes with accurate review and timely processing.
• Reconcile weekly Budget Status Reports and post correcting journal entries as needed.
• Process cost allocations and share allocations across budget accounts with precision.
• Develop and maintain procedural manuals, ensuring compliance with SAM and regulations.
• Coordinate with staff and management to improve fiscal operations and reporting.
