Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Water Resources Engineer to contribute to municipal infrastructure projects in Welkom. The role covers design, analysis, and management of water supply, wastewater treatment, and stormwater systems to support sustainable resources and public health in the Free State region.

You will collaborate with municipal officials and environmental agencies, applying hydraulic modeling and CAD tools to deliver compliant, resilient infrastructure solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a focus on water resources.
• At least 4 years of experience in the design and management of water, wastewater, or stormwater systems.
• Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software (e.g., EPANET, InfoWorks ICM) and CAD.
• Understanding of South African water quality standards and environmental legislation.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize water supply networks, including pipelines, pumping stations, and storage facilities.
• Develop and implement wastewater treatment and disposal strategies.
• Analyze and design stormwater management systems, including flood control measures.
• Conduct hydraulic modeling and feasibility studies for water-related infrastructure projects.
• Ensure designs comply with environmental regulations and public health standards.
• Collaborate with municipal officials, environmental agencies, and construction teams on project implementation and maintenance.
