Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Water Resource Engineer to lead design and optimization of water supply, wastewater, and stormwater systems in Welkom, Free State. The role covers project lifecycle from assessment to implementation, with emphasis on sustainable water management and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a focus on water resources.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in water resource management and engineering design.
• Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software (HEC-RAS/EPANET) and GIS.
• Strong understanding of South African water legislation and environmental policies.
• Experience with dam design, pipeline systems and treatment technologies is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement water supply systems, wastewater treatment plants, and stormwater management solutions.
• Conduct hydrological studies, water quality assessments, and impact analyses.
• Develop and manage hydraulic models for water distribution networks and river systems.
• Ensure projects comply with environmental regulations and water use licenses.
• Prepare feasibility reports, design documentation, and tender specifications.
• Collaborate with environmental scientists, government agencies, and community stakeholders.
