Job summary

WSP seeks a Water Resources Engineer to join our Tucson, AZ team (or Lakewood, CO / Lander, WY offices). You will work on mining projects nationwide and globally, focusing on stormwater management solutions, hydraulic modeling, drainage/civil design, fieldwork, and technical reporting.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of water resources experience, strong communication, and proficiency with HEC-RAS/HEC-HMS and AutoCAD Civil 3D. Travel across the Western U.S. and internationally may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental engineering.
  • 3–5 years of relevant water resources engineering experience.
  • Experience creating engineering designs and hydrologic/hydraulic models.
  • Proficient with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

  • Perform portions of broader mining project designs under supervision.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver stormwater management solutions for mining facilities.
  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and drainage/civil design.
  • Prepare calculation packages with documentation and references.
  • Assist development of technical reports, drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare reservoir and pond designs including outlet works and spillways.
  • Design channels and energy dissipation structures using various materials.
  • Produce drawings from concept to construction-level design with grading and drainage plans.
  • Work within scope, budget, and schedule and interact with clients and contractors.
