Job summary

The St. Johns River Water Management District is seeking Engineer III, IV, or PE level professionals to support the operation, maintenance, and improvement of flood protection and water-control infrastructure in northeast and east-central Florida.

This role emphasizes data analysis, telemetry, SCADA coordination, field inspections, and project leadership. Ideal candidates have strong skills in hydraulic and hydrologic analysis, Excel-based tools, and clear technical communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural or water resource engineering.
• Four years engineering experience directly related to the field for Engineer III; six years or PE license for Engineer IV.

Responsibilities

• Analyze hydraulic, hydrologic, operational, and telemetry data; develop reports and dashboards.
• Support telemetry and SCADA data collection, alarms, and configuration reviews.
• Conduct site visits to flood protection structures and related facilities to ensure readiness.
• Operate gates and pumping systems; coordinate water-control activities with staff and partners.
• Prepare calculations, drawings, specs, and reports; sign/seal when licensed.
• Inspect water-control structures and assess condition, reliability, risks, and repairs.
• Maintain emergency plans, spill prevention actions, and flood-control procedures.
• Represent the District in meetings and coordinate with agencies on operations.
