Job summary

Thomas & Hutton is seeking a skilled Water Resources Engineer in Nashville to design stormwater and drainage systems, perform hydrologic/hydraulic analyses, and produce technical documentation. You’ll collaborate with mentors and multidisciplinary teams while delivering projects on schedule and within budget.

Ideal candidates hold a Civil Engineering degree, EIT certification, and 3–5 years’ water resources experience, with AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and EIT certification is required.
• PE license strongly preferred and 3–5 years of water resources experience.
• Experience with stormwater, drainage, and hydrologic/hydraulic analyses.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and related modeling tools.
• Strong communication, leadership, and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction plans and designs for stormwater and drainage projects.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support planning and design.
• Develop stormwater reports and drainage studies with supporting docs.
• Assist with permit applications and regulatory coordination.

What you’ll do:

• Prepare construction plans and engineering designs for stormwater management, drainage, flood-control, and water resources projects
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support project planning and design
• Develop stormwater management reports, drainage studies, and supporting technical documentation
• Assist with the preparation of permit applications and coordination with regulatory agencies
• Utilize Civil 3D and water resources modeling software to develop and refine project designs
• Coordinate regularly with clients, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams throughout project delivery
• Lead and coordinate design activities, including assigning tasks and monitoring progress of team members
• Support project execution to meet scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives

What you bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• EIT certification required; PE license strongly preferred
• 3-5 years of experience in water resources engineering, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, and stormwater design
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D software applications
• Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software preferredStrong verbal and written communication skillsProven ability to manage multiple priorities and complete assignments on schedule
