Job summary

San Antonio River Authority is seeking a Professional Engineer to design, supervise, and coordinate infrastructure projects with a focus on nature-based solutions. You will perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling to support planning and design, and manage consultants and budgets across projects.

The role requires Texas PE licensure (or in-training status) and a relevant graduate degree is preferred. Strong communication, teamwork, and compliance with FEMA standards are essential for success in

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree and registered as an Engineer-in-Training in the State of Texas may qualify as an Engineer in Training; Preferred: Graduate Degree with emphasis in Civil, Environmental, or Agricultural Engineering, Hydrology, or Water Resources and two or more years of progressively responsible engineering experience.
  • Undergraduate Degree and registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas with three or more years of progressively responsible engineering experience in all phases of engineering including modeling, drafting, surveying, design, construction, and appropriate continuing education, may qualify as a Professional Engineer; Preferred: Graduate Degree with emphasis in Civil, Environmental, or Agricultural Engineering, Hydrology, or Water Resources or relevant discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Performs engineering design tasks and helps coordinate investigations and permitting, including design calculations, plans/specifications, and quantity calculations under a licensed engineer.
  • Develops and reviews engineering reports, plans, and specifications.
  • Develops and reviews hydrologic and hydraulic models for FEMA compliance.
  • Analyzes engineering data, develops solutions, and prepares technical reports.
  • Develops and reviews spatial data related to water resources using GIS and CADD software.
  • Performs field visits in support of modeling, design, construction oversight, and condition assessment.
  • Manages engineering projects including budgets, resource use, project management, reporting, and public relations coordination.
  • Coordinates with departments, partners, manufacturers, surveyors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Works with consultants and coordinates the work of consultants.
