Job summary

Moffatt & Nichol is seeking a Water Resources / Stormwater Engineer in Charleston, SC, to work on flood risk management, resilient coastal projects, and stormwater master plans. You’ll collaborate with coastal engineers and allied studios on regional strategies and nature-based approaches.

The role requires 8–15 years of experience, PE licensure, and a drive to expand the Charleston office with travel to support projects across the Southeast.

Qualifications

• 8 to 15 years of water resources / stormwater management experience
• Professional Engineer licensure required; ability to obtain in SC via reciprocity within 6 months of hire
• Bachelor’s in Civil or Environmental Engineering; Master’s preferred
• Experience with floodplain management, FEMA regulations, and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling

Responsibilities

• Performs and oversees numerical modelling and engineering calculations for flood risk, system capacity, pump and outfall performance, and mitigation
• Supports analyses related to storm surge, tidal flooding, rainfall-driven flooding, and sea level rise
• Prepares plans, specifications, and cost estimates for flood risk and coastal projects
• Develops and applies hydrologic, hydraulic, and hydrodynamic models (1D/2D riverine, urban drainage, coastal/tidal)
• Prepares technical memoranda, reports, exhibits, and presentations for internal teams and clients
• Leads coordination with project team members, subcontractors, and government agencies
• Coordinates with clients and regulators on floodplain management and coastal permitting
• Travels as needed to support project delivery
