Position Description

MBK Engineers is seeking a motivated individual to join the firm as a CAD Technician/Drafter to assist with design on projects related to the California Central Valley’s flood control and water conveyance system. The type of design work is varied and may include but not be limited to designs to help clients bring pump and pipe crossing throughout the flood system up to current State/Federal standards; designs to support water districts for canal lining/repairs; and designs for Reclamation Districts address levee seepage/stability repairs.

The primary duties of this position consist of:

• Making routine engineering calculations
• Design of facilities, including levees, channels, in-stream and floodplain restoration features
• Assisting with preparation of construction documents and exhibits
• Assisting in the preparation of written and verbal presentations
• Inspecting the maintenance of levees, channels, floodways and control structures

Qualifications

A minimum of an associate’s degree or technical certification in a relevant field such as engineering, surveying or construction management or experience considered sufficient to address the demands of the position. Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and in a team environment and have a keen eye to detail.
