Job summary

The City of Boise seeks a Water Renewal Utility Planning Coordinator to align strategic and capital planning, manage projects, and support financial and business processes across Water Renewal and City teams. This role requires a strong communicator and project manager capable of balancing big-picture planning with detailed execution.

It emphasizes cross‑department collaboration, ongoing improvement of processes, and delivering complex initiatives on time and on budget within the City's Water

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, public administration or related field
  • Six years of experience with program planning and implementation, project management, strategic planning
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate recurring strategic planning, capital planning, and utility planning through discussion facilitation, documenting outcomes, tracking action items, and ensuring established timelines are met.
  • Administer the project delivery model for planning for capital projects and support project managers and staff in applying the process consistently and transparently across utility projects.
  • Review project deliverables such as business case evaluations and conduct continuous improvement efforts.
  • Develop and maintain the utility's long term capital improvement plan, ensuring alignment with organization goals and coordinating budget and schedule updates with program management staff.

Education

Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, public administration or related field
Six years of experience with program planning and implementation, project management, strategic planning
Or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
