Job summary

Summit County Public Health in Akron, OH is seeking an Environmental Health Coordinator to lead the Water Quality Program. This full-time role oversees private water systems, septic and hauler programs, and stormwater monitoring to ensure state compliance.

You will develop SOPs and training materials, prepare board presentations, and assist leadership with budgeting, policy and public outreach efforts. Qualifications include a science-based Bachelor's degree, 3 years of related experience, REHS

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with ≥30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in the sciences.
  • Minimum 3 years related work experience.
  • Maintenance of REHS credential and 24 CE credits biennially.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license and insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations for all environmental health programs in the Water Quality Program.
  • Create training documents, draft SOPs, and assist in staff training.
  • Support leadership with budgeting, policy development, and public outreach; perform public speaking as needed.
  • Coordinate private water systems permitting and septic systems permitting, including inspections and reporting.
