Job summary

The NYC Department of Environmental Protection is seeking two Scientist (Water Ecology) Level II for Distribution Water Quality Operations in Queens, NY. You will act as Field Inspectors, collecting samples and performing field water quality analyses to ensure compliance with NYS and federal regulations.

Qualifications

• Masters orBachelor requirements as described in the minimum qualifications.
• Experience in water quality planning, management or research preferred.
• Ability to work in field sampling of water and environmental analyses.

Responsibilities

• Collect drinking water quality samples from various stations, hydrants, wells, and taps.
• Test field analyses: pH, residual chlorine, orthophosphate, temperature, turbidity, specific conductance.
• Calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot field meters and equipment.
• Assist in water quality emergency remediation and field investigations.
• Follow NYS approved testing methods for all analyses.
