Job summary

The City of New York's Department of Environmental Protection seeks a Scientist (Water Ecology) II in Kingston, NY to lead field sampling and data collection for water quality monitoring across the watershed network.

You will coordinate field activities, operate boats and trucks as needed, maintain equipment, perform QC, and prepare operational and compliance reports while upholding DEP safety policies.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in environmental sciences or related fields.
• Bachelor's degree with 24 credits in relevant areas and at least 1 year full-time experience in water quality planning or sampling.
• Associate degree with 24 credits and at least 3 years of related experience; substitution rules may apply.

Responsibilities

• Perform field sampling and analyses from boats as required.
• Operate F150 trucks to tow boats or gear.
• Compile, review and report water quality data by deadlines.
• Maintain field sampling equipment and QC records.
• Assist in purchasing and maintenance of supplies and equipment.
• Contribute to production of operational, compliance and investigative reports.
• Comply with EHS policies and regulations.
