Job summary

SCDES is seeking a Water Quality Compliance Specialist (EHM I) to perform inspections and evaluations of stormwater sites under the Bureau of Water. You will develop understanding of the stormwater program and support regional offices to meet statewide commitments, including assisting other water programs in the Charleston BRLS Office.

Responsibilities include conducting construction site inspections, evaluating industrial stormwater facilities, and contributing to BMP document updates.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in a related technical field OR high school diploma/GED plus two years of environmental health or related experience.
• Certification in environmental field qualifies as related experience.

Responsibilities

• Stormwater inspections: perform or participate in construction site inspections to ensure compliance with regulations and permits.
• Industrial stormwater evaluatons: conduct inspections and prepare reports and enforcement referrals as needed.
• Program support: assist with BMP manuals updates and internal/external documents for inspections/audits.
• Stormwater complaint investigations: investigate complaints and pursue timely resolution and enforcement actions.
