American Water is seeking an Operator-Maintenance Mechanic II to perform essential tasks in water treatment facilities, ensuring safe and reliable operation. The role involves hands-on maintenance, system monitoring, and data collection across multiple sites.

You will need a NJ Driver’s License, pass TCPA/OSHA medical exams, and obtain T-1/T-2 licenses per state guidelines. Expect rotating shifts with varied schedules and opportunities for growth within the company.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of water treatment operations including hydraulic, chemical and electrical equipment.
• Must understand distribution system networks and facility locations for safe and reliable operation.
• Must become a certified Emergency Responder Technician.
• Must pass qualification exams and obtain required licenses (T-1/W-1; T-2) per NJ requirements.
• Must have a valid New Jersey Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks of Systems Operator and Operator Maintenance Mechanic I.
• Repair and maintain equipment and facilities (piping, pumps, lubrication, readings, and testing).
• Assist in all phases of production facilities' operation.
• Work rotating 12-hour shifts at various facilities.
