Job summary

The City of Raleigh is seeking an experienced Plant Mechanic to support a large-scale water treatment and pumping facility. The role encompasses installation, maintenance and repair of chemical feed systems and critical equipment, with varied mechanical, facilities and grounds work at plants, lift stations and related sites.

You will troubleshoot mechanical issues, document work in CMMS, and collaborate with operations, electrical and instrumentation teams to ensure system integrity and reliable

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
• 1–3 years’ water/wastewater plant operation and maintenance experience.
• Equivalents of training/experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues at water treatment plants and remote sites.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair pumps, valves, and meters and related equipment.
• Use CMMS to manage work orders and document time, materials, and status.
• Coordinate with operations, electrical and instrumentation teams to maintain system integrity.
• Respond to emergency repairs during inclement weather or other urgent events.
