Job summary

The Town of Cary is hiring an Industrial Mechanic at the North Cary Water Reclamation Facility (NCWRF) to perform maintenance and repair of plant equipment, ensuring reliable wastewater treatment operations.

The role combines mechanical, electrical, and control systems work, with potential to fill in as a treatment plant operator. A strong safety mindset and willingness to work 8- or 12-hour shifts are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires graduation from high school or equivalent GED.
• Must have valid driver’s license.
• Must obtain Grade I Biological Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification within 1 year of hire.
• Live within fifty miles of the facility and respond within one hour for callbacks.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, and related equipment.
• Repair and retrofit plant equipment, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems.
• Operate SCADA and related control systems to monitor plant operations.
• Maintain detailed maintenance records and reports.
• Provide assistance to higher level maintenance technicians.
